2012 Far Western Short Course Championships
The top 16 older swimmers from the morning sessions came back race again. The top 8 younger swimmers as well.
Ciara, Valentina, Bennett, and Sophia combined to swim all three relays! Michael swam on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
He made finals in the back finishing 10th highest Sectional finisher and free finishing 16th. Zachary came up Friday after school and swam events on Saturday and Sunday. Now Michael will refocus on preparing for the long course meter season pointing towards trying to qualify for the Summer National Championships in Irvine, CA.
They combined for 10 best times! Senior Meet— 2 swimmers competed at the Senior Meet. Bennett Bugelli and Ciara Franke swam 10 races and recorded 4 best times. It was also a Age Group Championship qualifying time.

Bennett broke though with a big achievement swim in the free. First time under a minute! We had three different meets going on. Senior Winter Classic also at Granite Hills.

In all, we had 10 swimmers competing last weekend. Michael Cohn competed at the National Championships in Austin. Yet another first for Michael. Michael time trialed two events free and free and competed in the back.Junior Olympics Swim Meet 2012 400 IM
He achieved life time bests in the free and back. Just off a best in the free. The s established new team records. He finished 44th overall in the backstroke.
Going into the meet, he was seeded last at 60th. Michael moved up 11 spots. Nationals was a great experience for Michael from a swimming standpoint and myself from a coaching stand point. Michael needs some company! I was on deck Friday night for the distance events.

The official scores are not up yet but they have completed all of the events required. Finn Bugelli broke the 8 and under boys 25 butterfly record! Our swimmers did a great job of dealing with the weather and competing!

Bennett — A in free, free. A in breast, breast, IM. BB free, back 27 improved San Diego standards! For 5 of our swimmers, this was the first time swimming long course! All 18 swims were lifetime best times! Top 8 finishers score points. Natalie, Katherine, and Berkeley combined to score 8 points!
Pierce Dietze 50 backReef Guerard 50 free, free, free, flyand Zachary Wallace IM, back, back, free finished top 8 in prelims and earned the chance to swim their events again in finals! WSST finished 14th place with points! With only 44 scoring opportunities 38 individual events and 6 relayswe are one of the smallest groups competing.
2015 Short Course Far Westerns: Day One Prelims
Last summer, we had finished a bit higher with points for 13th place. Please try to plan trips and events so everyone that qualifies can compete. The 11th place team was only 42 points ahead. Our 6 relays three girls, three boys all finished in the top Reef — 50 free, free, free, free, fly, fly; Zachary — free, IM 7 Far Western qualifying times! Pierce — 50 back; Reef — 50, free, fly; Zachary — free 4 JO cuts!
They swam in the pool used for the Olympics! We stayed in the dorms right next to the pool. Lots of together time! Fun had by all. These are the guys that swam at the LA Invite last thurs through Friday. We are at In-N-Out on the way home. That's Ciro from our pizza sponsorship! With this meet brings nine swimmers posted times fast enough to qualify them for CIS Championships taking place this February in Calgary, another positive note to begin the season.
The Warriors showed they are on their way to some great success this season with several quality results while finishing third overall as a team. The team scores finished with Western University pts well in front but Waterloo in third place just behind the host Gee-Gees Brock, Queen's and Trent trailed this group.
The women were led by veteran Bronwyn Kemp Waterloo. Kemp was second in the breast and third in the She narrowly missed qualifying for the CIS championships in the process. Rookie Frances Heather Waterloo broke the team record in the 50 back. The women's and free relays both posted top five Warrior times. The men had more top three finishes with Graeme Kemp Waterloo leading the way. Graeme won both IM events and was third in the free and back.
Darius Ling Unionville was second in the and breast. Evan Dzik Winnipeg was second in the fly. Andrew Lee Thornhill rounded out the medalists with a bronze in the IM. All three men's relays finished third in very tight races.
There is lots of work left to do and the Warriors will be racing again this weekend splitting up their squad amongst the Canada Cup and Brock Cup. She also placed 5th in the m Breaststroke 1: Rachel Sehn also had a strong meet with four top six finishes.
