NP FFA makes changes in fruit sales After much thought and analyzing the changing market the past five years, the North Posey FFA will make a major change in their fruit sales this year.
We provide this information so that all our past and future customers will understand our changes. First and foremost, the Florida citrus industry has been devastated by a disease known as Citrus Greening.
This problem will only become worse in the next two years with no cure in sight. Last year we began the process by switching to California navels and other varieties. This year, we will completely leave Florida citrus and offer new varieties of oranges and etc.
We, as the chapter, are being proactive to the problem that exists. We felt you needed to know our plans and what we will have to offer. We will no longer offer tangelos or tangerines. Both of these varieties are endangered due to the disease.
We will, however, offer Satsumas and Clementines to take their place. Satsumas are in the mandarin orange family and are seedless.
They are marketed by being commonly called Halos or Cuties. Satsumas will replace tangelos. Clementines, a smaller version of the man- darin family, will replace the tangerines. They are easy to peel, tangy, and are often seedless. We will also be experimenting with providing sweet potatoes.
These are grown in North Carolina and will be suitable for Christmas meals and etc. We will also be offering fruit in a new pound box called the family pack. Navels and grapefruits will be available in the traditional pound case, pound case, and the new family pack. Satsumas will be offered in the pound family pack, and Clementines will be offered in the family pack box, but will only be 10 pounds.
Fruit sales are a major fundraising effort on our part; we have made these changes in an effort to meet the changing needs of the citrus industry as well the customer demand for smaller quantities of fruit for purchase. Prices will remain the same as last year with only a slight increase in grape fruit. Fruit sales will begin October 19 and run through November 4 with delivery expected the week of November Please feel free to call the agriculture department at if you have any questions or need a member to call upon you.

Shown in the back row are members of the planning committee for the contest, left to right: Kingdoms that were once great and powerful can no longer be found on a map.
Nations that were once feared and wealthy are now weak and impoverished. Countries that once were respected are now looked upon as failures. God has been, is and always will be the Creator-Ruler. His sovereignty began when the universe began and kingdoms, nations and countries were in existence according to His divine plan.
He reigned before time began and will continue to reign even when clocks cease to tick. Deeds that show compassion and deeds that are cruel do not escape His careful observation. Though He is invisible to us, nations are not invisible to Him. He is aware of every citizen in every country and carefully records the actions of the rulers and leaders.
The rebellious and unrighteous, the godless and the god- restricting will not escape His judgment. No nation has ever succeeded when they have rebelled against God, His laws or His truth. Nations sin, people sin and God warns them and waits for them to repent. If they repent He spares His judgment and voids their punishment that is rightfully theirs because of their sin.
But when nations continue to sin they will collapse from within or be destroyed from without. We will accommodate you for almost any size rug and color that you want. They would also be offered a housing grant if they choose one of the Commonwealth Campuses with available campus housing Beaver, Greater Allegheny, Hazleton and Mont Alto for their first year.
